about scrapper

Artist, and yogi, Monica Celli-de Movellan is inspired by new and recycled fabrics, texture & color...
ones' self and the transformations that all these elements can take.

Having grown up in the culturally rich Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts and surrounded by a family full of talents and ingenuity, it is no surprise that Monica pursued a life filled with creativity. Armed with a Fine Arts degree and a Masters' in Education, Monica taught High School Art and was the Department Head for over 10 years in a local public school. It was there that she continued to nurture her multimedia talents.

Inspiration for scrapper designs came in the form of a discarded vintage hand towel. It became a one of a kind, embellished dress for her daughter. The name 'scrapper' has come from her dog, playing with the definition of 'little rascal' and also scraps of fabric that are used in some of the designs. Inspirations continued from the hand towel to personal transformations through her yoga practice which has led her to create the one of a kind pieces and logo designs that are unique to scrapper designs and nectar clothing lines. Each piece is handmade with attention to detail and workmanship, to create a beautifully constructed piece of wearable art.

Monica resides near where she grew up, continuing to find inspiration in life and her surroundings. She is married to Kinetic Sculptor Pedro S. de Movellan, Together they have one 'little morsel' and another due any day.

We hope that you enjoy wearing these special creations and showing the world your statement, as much as she does creating them.
